Where:
Eramosa River Trail
at the end of Brockville Road

Garlic mustard is an invasive herb native to Europe. It spreads quickly, interfering with the growth of other plants including several species at risk. While it is not a good food source for wildlife, it is high in vitamins A and C, and it makes great pesto. Join us to learn about the plant, how to safely pull it, and which native species compete well with it.

This year, after you pull the garlic mustard, you’ll be able to plant native species in its place. You’ll contribute to the health of the river bank, and leave with some ingredients for your very own delicious pesto!

Please bring your own containers! And a trowel if you have one. We’re working on getting power to the event, but you may need access to a blender later.

ALL WELCOME. This is an accessible, family-friendly event. Please don’t drive if you don’t have to – there isn’t that much parking in the area.

Brockville Avenue is located just East of Lyon Park. Go south off York Road to the end and you’ll see the trail and the Eramosa River.

Hosted by: OPIRG Guelph
Presented with Wellington Water Watchers as part of the 2Rivers Festival

Please note that we have a cap of about 50 people for this event, to ensure we have enough ingredients to go around. So if you are interested in attending, we strongly encourage you to RSVP here: http://www.2riversfestival.org/garlic_mustard_pull_2017
